Roland was known as "The Energizer Bunny"
The California Triple Crown family lost a really good friend with the passing of Roland Hoffman on February 24, 2026.
Affectionately known as the California Triple Crown History and Video Guy, Roland started to help the California Triple Crown making a huge difference in the Hall of Fame Inductions at the California Triple Crown Award Breakfasts in Vacaville following the Knoxville Fall Classic Double the day before. Roland continued to do this for many years ... each year hauling a ton of audio, video, and technical equipment from his home in Southern California up to Vacaville in Northern California. His impact on these Award Breakfasts and the California Triple Crown was incredible. Roland then became instrumental by posting thousands of ride completions to the California Triple Crown Database. He worked tirelessly with Chuck Bramwell to make sure every cyclist was given the credit that they worked so hard in earning. He made a huge difference.
This is a place where people who loved Roland may feel free to write a memory they have of him, a story, or to say goodbye to a good friend. Please share your thoughts by clicking on the "Comments" at the bottom of the tribute below. You need not be a cyclist to share a memory here. Please e-mail any photos of Roland that you'd like to share to Chuck Bramwell at cbrams@caltriplecrown.com and he'll post them here.
Let's remember him here and pay tribute to a great man who gave back so much to cycling in California. Please share your memories here.
May we always remember that each day is a blessing.
As shown HERE, Roland was an amazing cyclist and completed 77 Double Centuries from 1995 to 2017!! He was inducted into the California Triple Crown Hall of Fame in 2010 after completing over 50 Double Centuries in California!!
In 2010, he started to really give back to our long distance cycling sport by helping support the Double Centuries in California and the California Triple Crown Awards Breakfast.
In 2011, Roland rode 400 Miles on the Grand Tour Quad Century in less than one day, completing it in 22 Hours and 44 Minutes which is an amazing accomplishment!!
Roland and Teresa Beck completed the 2014 California Triple Crown Stage Race on a tandem which was unheard of!! In fact, no tandems have completed these Three Most Difficult Double Centuries in California in one year in the Stage Race since Roland and Teresa completed it!! Here they are at the California Triple Crown Awards Breakfast:
It was so great that Roland was able to join us for the 2025 California Triple Crown Awards Breakfast. Thank you to Dzung Dang for these great photos:
